Jeff Francis beat Cole Hamels in a battle of young lefties in a game that featured, not offense, as most people thought, but solid pitching. Most boos were saved for the other MVP candidate, Matt Holliday, who put the icing on the cake in the eighth with a solo shot to deep center.
