Who are the Eagles anyway? After years of being outshined by the Birds for virtually the last 8-9 years or so, Philly could return to a baseball town. If the Phillies win the World Series, you can bet it will. In fact, what could go wrong with this team? Sure, sure, never say it is over until it’s actually over. But these Phillies look like a team of destiny, peaking, at just the right time to make a world series run. How about Brett Myers and his bat? Victorino and his backhanded catch that basically saved his team the game? Are you not convinced yet? Even Myers seemed perplexed in light of his accomplishments at the plate. "I'm baffled. I can't explain it," Myers said. "I'd rather go out and throw seven solid innings than get three hits, but it worked out for us."(Philly Inquirer) On the mound, where Brett really does his business, was not very overpowering, giving up 5 runs in just 5 innings of work. No doubt, the bullpen helped him out, pitching four scoreless innings, en route to the victory, by a score of 8-5
In light of the victory, the Phillies guaranteed there will be more baseball to play at Citizens Bank Park. Whether it is a continuation of the Series against the Dodgers, or a return to the World Series after a brief absence. (Oh yeah, 15 years- talk about a brief absence!)
What can go wrong with this team? Many things, actually, which in the past, has been the case. (Black Friday anyone?)
But in order for the Phils to lose this time, something unexplainable will have to happen. Because this team looks like a team of destiny.
