Ratchet Them Up:
Mike Napoli (C, Angels): For those needing power from the catcher’s spot and don’t mind taking the hit in average, Mike Napoli is back from the DL.
Aaron Heilman (RP, Mets): Looks like he’ll get the majority of the save chances for the Mets while Billy Wagner is on the DL. His first outing was rough, his second somewhat better.
Eddie Guardado (CL, Rangers): Took over the closer’s role when CJ Wilson developed elbow problems.
Brad Penny (SP, Dodgers): Returned from the DL and could offer some serious pitching help down the stretch.
Jensen Lewis (RP, Indians): Add him to the list of guys who’ll get save chances in Cleveland.
David DeJesus (OF, Royals): Is back in the lineup.
Chipper Jones (3B, Braves): Returned from the DL. Get him back your lineup.
Brad Zeigler (RP, A’s): Looks like the front runner to get save chances in Oakland.
Ryan Church (OF, Mets): Was given medical clearance to return to active duty and could be a solid pickup for anyone looking for outfield help.
Jerry Hairston Jr. (2B/SS/OF, Reds): Apparently is almost ready to return to the top of the Reds lineup. If you need runs or steals, Hairston is a smart pick up.
Jeff Kent (2B, Dodgers): Seems to be benefitting from having Manny Ramirez in the lineup behind him. He could be poised for a good stretch run for those needing 2B help.
John Maine (SP, Mets): Appears to be healthy and will come off the DL midweek in time to make one start.
Ratchet Them Down:
Ivan Rodriguez (C, Yankees): Was involved in a collision at the plate on Thursday and appeared to be injured. He could miss time next week.
Joba Chamberlain (SP, Yankees): Is done until at least the end of the month with rotator cuff tendonitis.
David Murphy (OF, Rangers): Will miss 2-4 weeks with a strained ligament in his knee.
Elijah Dukes (OF, Nationals): Was placed on the DL after hitting himself in the leg with his bat.
C.J. Wilson (CL, Rangers): May be done for the season, but at the moment that’s unclear. He’s got a sore elbow and has talked to a surgeon. Eddie Guardado will take over as closer in the interim.
Billy Wagner (RP, Mets): Was placed on the DL with a left forearm strain.
Adam Jones (OF, Orioles): Broke a bone in his foot when he fouled a pitch off of it. He’s on the 15 day DL.
Al Reyes (RP, Rays): Former closer Al Reyes was designated for assignment and will likely end up signing elsewhere.
Evan Longoria (3B, Rays): Is playing with a sore wrist and that should hurt his ability to swing the bat.
Michael Cuddyer (OF, Twins): Broke his foot in a rehab start and is probably done for the season.
