|Fantasy Baseball: Fantasy Mailbag: Week 7|

Big news for your keeper leagues: Wladimir Balentin and Jeff Clement have been called up to the major leagues. Even bigger news for those of you in regular fantasy leagues: Brad Wilkerson and Jose Vidro will be getting less at-bats. Okay, I lied on the second part: No one really owns Wilkerson or Vidro.
My team is struggling. Help me out!

Let’s start with the pitching. Since I received this email, Harden should have been activated from the disabled list, which means you should’ve cut Bronson Arroyo in his place. Next, I would drop Johnny Cueto, Tim Wakefield, Jonathan Sanchez, and Zach Duke. Replace them with guys like Todd Wellemeyer, Ryan Dempster, John Danks, and Scott Olsen. All of these guys have low WHIPs, decent number of Ks, and better ERAs. That’s who you should target. They should help your pitching staff.
In terms of offense, you’re okay with steals, but I’m worried about your outright power. Outside of Lee, you don’t have anybody hitting in the middle of a major league team’s lineup. I’d suggest buying low on guys like Carlos Pena or Paul Konerko.
What’s up with Erik Bedard?
--Mike, Seattle, WA
The Mariners aren’t giving Bedard that much run support, which accounts for the lack of wins. On the plus side, he has a decent ERA and WHIP, but is lacking in those strikeouts. I’d watch out for those injuries to pop up some time this season. Bedard has never thrown 200 innings. I’d buy low on him, however.
Should I hold on to Nate McLouth? What about his teammate Xavier Nady? What should I do with these two Pirates?
--Rick, Houston, TX
You should be cautious with the X-Man. The Pirates will likely be dealing him to a contender soon, so it depends on where he goes. New York, possibly? However, I would keep him, since he’s a solid guy who produces consistently.
I told a fantasy owner to drop McLouth earlier in the season, which looks foolish today. However, I would trade him if given the chance. I feel as if his value is soon going to dip, and you can maximize his value if you move him now.
