At Home Plate
Worst case scenario
Written by Bjoern Hartig (Contact & Archive) on April 18, 2009

The Indians score 14 (!) runs in the second inning to turn a 0-2 deficit into a 14-2 lead against the Yankees. Rhe major league record stands at 17 runs in one inning, set by the Boston Red Sox, so the Indians came close.

The game is pretty much over and I'm switching over to the National League matchups. I guess if you made your only ballpark visit of the year today in Yankees stadium, you are pretty disappointed now (unless the Yankees make a miraculous comeback, in which case it may be the best game you ever see).

This is actually one of my biggest (baseball related) fears: That I am on holiday in the States, save my money for a trip to the ballpark and then watch a blowout that is not even remotely excited.

Update: With the score 16-2, the Indians load the bases with one out, but don't score. I'd say chances are good we will see Nick Swisher pitch another inning today.
